Jaslok Hospital Is the First To use MRgFUS To Treat Uterine Fibroid

Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, India, announced that it is proving new treatment for uterine fibroids, a frequently seen GEgynecological disorder. The new treatment is carried out by using GE Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS). The new technique uses high intensity ultrasound waves to kill the benign tumors of the uterus in a non invasive way.

Cox Monett Uses New Digital Mammography System

Cox Monett Hospital announced that its radiology department has improved its diagnostic imaging services provided to Mammograms_2women, after replacing its analog mammography machine with a new digital mammography unit. Elaine McElroy, radiologic technologist at Cox Monett Hospital, said that the hospital acquired GE Senographe Essential digital mammogram machine back in February. The previous analog mammography machine in the hospital was working since 1989. McElroy added that the first facility to install digital mammography system was CoxHealth, back in 2001. Currently, Cox South, Cox North, Cox Monett and Ferrell-Duncan are all using digital technology.

Increased Demand For Radiologists By Larger Hospitals And Teleradiology Facilities

According to a recent survey, prepared by Merritt Hawkins, an AMN Healthcare Company, the trends of hiring xrayradiologists for work has shifted from private, smaller radiology groups to larger hospitals and big teleradiology facilities. Merritt Hawkins mentioned that it has checked incentives of nearly 2800 physicians, in the period from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2010. It was found that the sample for radiology was not big but it indicated a new trend, which was that private radiology groups were rarely asking for radiologists, unlike other telardiology providers and larger hospitals.

Floyd Valley Hospital Installs A New Digital Mammography System

Floyd Valley Hospital announced that it is going to install a new digital mammography unit. Le Mars hospital also is mammograminstalling a new digital mammography system this week. Denee Hardyk, BSRT, R, M, CT, radiology manager at Floyd Valley Hospital (FVH), mentioned that digital mammography will provide advantages for radiologists, doctors and patients. She said "It is all computer digital images. There's better detail on images," She added "There's an ease of interpretation."

Agfa Implements IMPAX 6 In Four Alliance Medical Hospitals

Agfa Healthcare announced that it has finished implementing its IMPAX 6 Picture Archiving and Communications AgfaSystem (PACS), and its Radiology Information Systems (RIS) throughout four locations in Ireland. Agfa Healthcare installed its solutions in four locations among Alliance Medical's hospitals, an independent organization providing diagnostic imaging services. Alliance Medical has 11 locations providing services throughout Ireland.
