iSoft Signs New Deals In Germany

iSoft, a major Australian company providing healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has signed five new deals with isoftlogohospitals in Germany, the recently signed deals worth nearly €3.9 million. The hospitals include Stadtklinik Frankenthal and Rudolf Virchow hospital at Glauchau, they are going to use isoft’s ClinicCentre hospital information system (HIS). The hospitals will start using the system by January 2011. As per the signed deals, iSoft is going to provide maintenance and support services during the next five years.

GE Reintroduces Its Optison Echocardiology Contrast Agent

GE Healthcare Medical Diagnostics announced that it has re-introduced its Optison, a contrast agent used with GEultrasound for echocardiogram. It is a Perflutren Protein-Type A Microspheres Injectable Suspension, USP. Optison is indicated to be used with patients with sub-optimal echocardiograms in order to enhance the delineation of the left ventricular endocardial borders. However, the safety of Optison with pharmacologic or exercise stress is not established yet.

Diffusion MRI Better Than CT For Detecting Ischemic stroke

A recent guideline mentioned that diffusion MRI is showing better than CT when used to detect diagnosing ischemic MRI_brainstroke. The new guideline was prepared by the American Academy of Neurology. Ischemic stroke is one of the most frequently occurring strokes; it is a result to reduction in blood supply to the brain, which can be caused by blockage or blood clot. The American Academy of Neurology mentioned that the treatment of ischemic stroke is to be given with few hours after the beginning of symptoms.

New Funds For Cancer Research In Ontario

The President and Scientific Director of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR), Dr. Tom Hudson, and radiotherapy_devicePresident and CEO of Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), Dr. Terrence Sullivan, announced that a funding of $6 million is now available to support projects in the Health Services Research Program (HSRP). The latter is recent result to cooperation between the OICR and CCO, and is going to enhance cancer care service in Ontario. Dr. Hudson commented "This funding will provide Ontario's researchers with the support they need to ensure that the delivery of cancer care in the province is continually improving," he continued "Additionally, we hope to provide a benchmark for other jurisdictions, specifically in important areas such as women's cancer survivorship." Based on HSRP, the Women's Cancer Survivorship Team is going to have funds of more than $800,000. The team will use the fund to continue their researches about the effects of cancer drug therapy in long-term.

Concord Medical Joins Chang'An Hospital For Improved Cancer Treatment Service

Concord Medical Services Holdings Ltd, a company managing the largest network of and diagnostic imaging and Radiotherapyradiotherapy centers in China, announced that it has entered into a joint venture with Chang'An Hospital, starting from the first of July, to operate cancer treatment facilities at Chang'An Hospital. Concord Medical is acquiring a 52% interest in Xi'an Wan Jie Hua Xiang Medical Technology Development Ltd.
