GE’s MAC 800 Improves ECG Screenings For Cardiac conditions

Physicians from Beaumont Hospital, Michigan, conducted a cardiac screening session for high school students. They GEused GE’s MAC 800 ECG system for detecting cardiac conditions. They found that among the involved 402 students, 34 were advised to continue with sports and go for follow-ups with their personal physicians; and another five students were asked to stop exercise and seek further evaluations.

St. Joseph's Improves Its Services By Using Synapse

St. Joseph's Hospital has recently implemented a new innovative radiology image and information network system, Synapse, which will be used to streamline the hospital’s operations in addition to improving patient care by increasing the speed of diagnosis. St. Joseph’s invested a sum of $1 million for the implementation process.

Geisinger Offers Mammography Services

Geisinger Health System, Lewistown, PA, announced that it is now providing mammography services at Geisinger-mammogramLewistown. The recently-offered services will allow women in the area to undergo mammography scans without a need to travel for long distances. Dr.Anne Dunne, section head of mammography for Geisinger Health System, said that there are two offered types of mammography services, screening mammography and diagnostic mammography.

Patients Prefer CTC To Colonoscopy For Screening

According to a new study, patients who previously did not agree to undergo colonscopy as a screening for colorectal cancer are now willing to perform the screening using CT Colonography (CTC), provided that their medical insurance covers its costs. The study was conducted by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, and it was published in the August issue of the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR).
