Frameless Radiosurgery Effectively Treats Metastatic Tumors

According to recent statistics, the greater section of neurosurgeons in the United States is still using a stereotactic frame when conducting radiosurgery. The reason for that stereotactic frame is believed to be more safe and effective than frameless radiosurgery.

PAT, A New Imaging Technique For Melanoma

In a recent study, researchers were able to develop a new imaging technique to be used for generating images of melanoma, which is a less common type of skin cancer but it results in the greater section of skin cancer mortalities. Melanoma is characterized by its high survival rate provided that the disease is detected early. During surgical intervention, surgeons tend to remove as little extra healthy tissue with the cancerous one. But till now, there was no imaging technique that shows the exact margins of the tumor. Surgeons have to cut beyond the definite melanoma boundaries to be sure that all the cancerous tissues are removed.

MRI Shows Links Between Social Stress And Increased Inflammation

During a recent study, MRI was used to detect the relation between exposure to social stress and inflammation. MRI findings MRInoted that individuals with higher neural sensitivity to social stress tend to show physical increases in inflammatory activity. The study was conducted by researchers from UCLA. The study is highlighted in the online edition of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
