GE’s Centricity EMR Donated To The University of Texas

GE Healthcare, A global leading company providing medical imaging systems and healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has recently donated its Electronic Medical Record GE(EMR) solution, Centricity, to the University of Texas at Austin (UTA). By providing the solution, GE aims to help the UTA in training its students through the University’s health information technology program. GE’s Centricity is used by UTA in its Health Information Technology Learning Laboratory, and the attending students are awarded certificates following the end of the UTA’s health information technology program. GE aims, by donating Centricity, to increase the knowledge of primary care physicians about healthcare IT applications. Jim Corrigan, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare IT, said “We never flinch before agreeing to an investment like this. It’s an investment in the future of our industry and in the young minds that will shape it.” GE provided UTA with Centricity Advance, which is an online EMR solution developed for offering practice to primary care physicians. The solution is delivered as a web-based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application.
