Radiation Delivered To Children Increases Risks For Cancer, Study

According to a new study, medical imaging procedure taking place in children's cancer treatment can put children at risk due to delivering them high doses of radiation. The study was conducted in a children cancer medical center in Canada, and it involved 150 children suffering from the disease. Researchers reviewed the radiation doses children received from medical imaging systems during their cancer treatment courses.

High Rates Of Anomalies Discovered By Accident In Research Participants

According to a recent study, 40% of individuals participating in medical imaging researches discover by accident that they have anomalies in their internal organs. The study added that 6% of these individuals get to undergo medical intervention in order to treat such anomalies.A team of physicians, radiologists and bioethicists at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, evaluated the benefits and burdens of radiologists' findings during research examinations that were carried out during three months in 2004. The Center for Diagnostic Imaging Opens A New Facility In Indiana

Medical imaging has been one of the most significantly important tools providing help to doctors during diagnosis. Diagnostic imaging centers are competing between each CDIother to provide higher levels of service. For instance, the Indiana-based Center for Diagnostic Imaging decided to establish a new facility for its patients at the western section of the city. The Center decided to do so after reviewing the needs of the patients in the city. The Center for Diagnostic Imaging started a new outpatient medical imaging and image-guided procedure center in Avon. Another MRI facility at the center of the city was closed in order to avoid duplicating services. The recently opened imaging facility in Avon has several services imaging systems including a 1.5T open MRI device, digital X-ray systems, in addition to the capability of performing image-guided interventional procedures that provide help during the diagnosis and treatment of joint disorders and back pain.

Bucyrus Community Hospital Earned Three-year Accreditation in Mammography

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has awarded a 3-year mammography accreditation to Bucyrus Community Hospital based on a recent survey on the achievement of high practice standards.
ACR is a national organization serving radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs that focus on medical imaging and radiation oncology practice and comprehensive healthcare services delivery. Evaluations of practice are conducted by highly experienced board-certified physicians and medical physicists, who assess personnel qualifications and equipment adequacy, then report their findings to the ACR's Committee of Accreditation, which accordingly provides a comprehensive report on the practice.

Bellevue Hospital Hosts An Event To Discuss The Risks Of Radiation Exposure

Although radiology and medical imaging has been one of the most important medical branches, there are always belleveueconcerns about the safety of several imaging procedures, such as radiation exposure accompanied with CT scans, and the danger of MRI scans with patients using pacemakers.
