Hampton Roads Have New Low-dose CT system

Hampton Roads is going to make use of a new low-dose CT imaging system. The new 64-slice CT unit is supported bon_souarewith advanced software that helps technicians in reducing radiation exposure by almost 40%, with enhanced image clarity. The first hospital to use the new CT system in the area is Bon Secours DePaul in Norfolk. The new unit costs $1.2 million.

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Took Place In Jeddah

A breast cancer awareness campaign took place in Jeddah aiming to break a Guinness World Record forPink_ribbon the largest human awareness ribbon.  The theme of the campaign this year is "A Woman's Stand". The event was held under the patronage of the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Foundation, while Princess Reema bint Bandar and the Al-Bidayah Breast Feeding Resource and Women's Awareness Center at the Zahra Breast Cancer Association organized the initiative.

Basal Cells Are The Origin Of Prostate Cancer

According to a new study, the basal cells of the prostate were identified as the cell of origin for human prostate cancer for the first time. This recent discovery will help in further development of diagnostic tools and effective treatment for the prostate cancer patients. The study was carried out by researchers from Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCLA. The study was highlighted in the July 30, peer-reviewed journal Science.

Family History Of Male Breast Cancer Increases The Risk Of Developing The Disease

According to a new study, individuals with family history of male breast cancer are mamogramshaving higher risk of developing breast cancer themselves. Such individuals are at higher risk of the disease more than individuals with a family history of breast cancer. The study was conducted by researchers from James Graham Brown Cancer Center, University of Louisville. The study was published in the August issue of the journal The American Surgeon.

New Reason For Poorer Mammography Results In Younger Women

According to a new study, the poorer breast cancer detection rate provided by mammography in women in their 40s is mammogramcaused by the technology itself and not the features of breast cancer in such women. The study was published online July 27 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

New Imaging Technique For Early Diagnosis Of Alzheimer’s Disease

The study was conducted by researchers from the Australian Imaging Biomarkers and Lifestyle Flagship Study of Ageing (AIBL).
