EHR Sales In US during 2009, Doubled

According to a recent report, the sales of Electronic Health Records (EHR) in larger hospitals in the US have increased in 2009 by the double, when comparing these sales to those of 2008. The eighth annual clinical market share report was prepared by KLAS, a leading research firm, along with Epic and Cerner, both are major healthcare IT solutions providers, and collected its data from about 70% of the sales involving larger hospitals. The report noted that the significant increase of EHR sales in 2009 was encouraged by American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA).

CSC Receives Certification From EuroRec

CSC has been awarded certification from EuroRec, a non profit organization dedicated to promoting high quality cscelectronic health record (EHR) systems. CSC is one of the first software providers in Europe to receive certification from EuroRec. Freddy Lykke, managing director of CSC’s European healthcare solution centre said, “ EuroRec is driving standardization in EHR systems and CSC believes that this is a crucial step forward for the industry. We feel that common standards, which allow the performance of each vendor’s software to be measured and compared, are useful means through which vendors like CSC can demonstrate that EHR systems perform as described.”

NextGen To Implement Its Healthcare IT Solutions At MKMG

NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc. a major company providing healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has signed a new agreement with Mount Kisco NextGenMedical Group, PC (MKMG) to implement several NextGen solutions such as NextGen® Ambulatory EHR, NextGen® Patient Portal, and NextGen® Practice Management. MKMG provides healthcare services to more than 250,000 patients every year across 22 locations in the US state of New York. It was among the first to use healthcare IT solutions which significantly improved the level of the offered healthcare services. MKMG produces about 420,000 electronic prescriptions every year. According to the recently signed agreement with NextGen, MKMG is going to install an integrated platform established on a single database to help in achieving better its financial and clinical needs, particularly as MKMG is aiming to comply with the Meaningful Use Program to be included in the incentive scheme.

Singapore To Install Its National EHR

The Ministry of Health in Singapore has recently signed a contract with Accenture to install the National Electronic ministry_of_health_SingaporeHealth Record (NEHR) system. The ministry aims to go a step forward towards a national, unified, and integrated healthcare system.

Cegedim To Purchase Pulse Systems

Cegedim, a leading company providing healthcare IT solutions, announced that it has purchased Pulse Systems, Inc., a major company offering healthcare software and solutions in the United States. Pulse System is based in Wichita, Kan. Following the purchase, Cegedim will gain access to the U.S. market of electronic health records (EHR) and practice management (PM). Alain Missoffe, chairman of Cegedim Healthcare Software, commented "Pulse provides Cegedim an optimal entry and platform into the rapidly growing U.S. healthcare computerization market. We expect to capitalize on their superior healthcare software, vast market knowledge, excellent customer service and technological prowess to deliver EHR and PM solutions to healthcare professionals with the best possible chances of success." Moreover, the purchase will enhance the presence of Cegedim and its solutions in North America. The European Cegedim Healthcare Software division will extended in order to use Pulse solutions for further expansion in the US market.
